Dark Thoughts Are Like Shadows

dark thoughts are like shadows. turn around and you will see sunshine. Mercia Tapping

I was walking one day across my office parking lot, feeling a trifle sorry for myself, when I turned around and saw these grasses waving against the blue sky.

And it struck me that I could continue feeling mopey or choose to savor the unexpected beauty before me.

The Path to Success

the path to success is strewn with disappointments. welcome them as each one moves you closer to your goal. Mercia Tapping

This may seem like a crazy thing to be saying, but its genesis resides in my experience many years ago of having to do cold calling and knowing it was a numbers game, and each turn down got you closer to that elusive YES.

I also shudder when I think of all the painful blind dates I went on before I met my wonderful, but now diseased husband.

I got to 100 and stopped counting. He appeared shortly thereafter.

This is by way of preamble of saying that on your journey, there will be many disappointments.

This does not mean you will not get to where you want, merely there are hurdles to jump on your way to success.

End Your Day with an Uplifting Thought

end your day with an uplifting thought. tomorrow can and will be a better day. Mercia Tapping

I make it a practice to count my blessings and rejoice in any tiny miracle that happened in my day.

I leave all the negative stuff behind me before my head hits the pillow.

Turn Your Back On the Past

turn your back on the past. it is not where you are going. Mercia Tapping

It is all too easy to look back at a time in ones life when one did not have a care in the world, and keep wishing those days were here again.

I still feel that some days when I recall the happiness I experienced with a wonderful man, my husband, who died of brain cancer. You never forget a loved one and you carry them forever in your heart. But looking backwards all the time is exquisite torture and a waste of life.

My husband made me promise that I would not do that, and to find happiness on this earth after he was gone.

I cannot tell you that it has been easy to follow his words of wisdom, but I do passionately believe that keeping the faith that my new future also holds happiness, is the only way to live.

Worrying About the Future is Useless

Filed in Courage, Life by on January 27, 2015

worrying about the future is a useless emotion, take only one day at a time. Mercia Tapping

It requires a great deal of mental discipline not to be consumed with worry when your troubles are piling up fast. Goodness knows I have been there.

But looking around all the corners, anticipating every possible flavor of disaster, paralyzes us from taking the actions we need to take each day to resolve the issues at hand.

I simply have refused to get drawn into conversations with people who ask those ” what if” worry conversations. I have learned it does not do me any good.

Envision That Future

envision that future and let that future come to you. Mercia Tapping

I have always been a believer that you need to start with a clarity of vision of how you want your life to turn out. Then like a message in a bottle, set it free and wait for it to emerge and manifest in its own time.

The Going Gets Rough

the going gets rough, but keep going because it will get smoother. Mercia Tapping

There have been times in my life where I have woken up scarcely able to face the day. Yet I know that life always has its ebbs and flows, and that if I only keep going the way forward will eventually get smoother.

the real successes in life never come easy but are achieved through persistence. Mercia Tapping

Many people give up too soon.

If you examine the lives of successful people, you will find that they worked incredibly hard for for their success, faced failure in the face numerous times, and never gave up even when the rest of the world told them what they wanted was impossible.

This is not just about money, it is about any life endeavor.

Persistence is key.

Never Live Life Like Half a Loaf is Better

Filed in Courage, Inspirational by on January 18, 2015

never life life like half a loaf is better than no bread. live like it is the whole loaf or nothing at all. Mercia Tapping

This has been one of my mantras for the last 35 years.

Life has its risks, we all know that. But if you do not live life full out, you are missing out on so much.

You may fall, you may stumble, but if you go for what you really want out of life, you will never have regrets.

Have A Good Belly Laugh

have a good belly laugh, it's good for the soul. Mercia Tapping.

I think it is very important that even when we are faced with life’s darkest challenges that we take time out to laugh.

Laughter is such a wonderful release and a true mood elevator.
