Today Is A Day For Peace

today is a day for peace for the soul. Mercia Tapping

Sometimes, my head can hurt by trying to figure out how I am going to get to the next place in my life, or get the chores done which have piled up. I am sure that has happened to you. But sometimes, it is just best to chill out and just rest.

It is good to chill out in whatever way works best for you. Taking that break can be rejuvenating and allow you to be invigorated to tackle our chores and challenges once more.

Complaining About The Past

Filed in Courage, Hope, Inspirational, Life by on January 30, 2016

complaining about the past simply inders your creating a new future. Mercia Tapping

We all get whacked around by life, and enough has happened in my life in recent years that I could be forgiven if I walked around complaining vehemently about the raw deal I had been given. But I have not done that because I choose to look at all the bumps in the road as something that will pass, and better things lie around the corner.

Sometimes, this mental discipline has been hard to come by, and I can have a pity party like the rest of humanity. But it doesn’t last long as I know it doesn’t feel good to stay stuck in that place.

Moreover, if I am constantly looking backwards and complaining, it truly hinders my envisioning and creating that shiny new future. And that future is what I really want. I am sure you do too.

See Failures

Filed in Courage, Hope, Inspirational, Life by on January 29, 2016

see failures only as stumbling blocks to success. Mercia Tapping

This is about the point in the year when we look at our New Years resolutions and think “hmm, this is not going quite as fast or as well as I planned”. The temptation therefore is to give up. Now it is all too difficult.

I always say about my intended weight loss ” I can control what I put in my mouth but not what my body does with it”. So we will all encounter this year, events that we are tempted to term as “failures”. We had the best of intentions, then whoops, we stumbled or even fell flat on our faces.

The only, and I mean only thing to do is to dust oneself off, take a deep breath and keep going. That is how the real successes in life are achieved. They do not fall in our laps. Perseverance is the watchword for any successful person.

Your thoughts give rise to your feelings, so where do you need to change your thoughts to take the suffering out of your life?

Life Is Like A Garden

Filed in Courage, God, Hope, Inspirational, Life by on January 28, 2016

life is like a garden. it has seasons. spring always follows winter. Mercia Tapping

For some of us we are literally and figuratively in the middle of the winter of our lives.
The air is chilly and we huddle indoors wondering whether we will see the miracle of Spring again. Of course it always happens. And so it is with life.

I have had the famine in my life, the seven years of lean. Now it is time for the seven years of plenty. I have never given up that hope and that is what has kept me going through the years of lean.

So remember if you are in your ” lean years” that with some perseverance and God’s grace you will not lost forever. Your spring will come!

Your thoughts give rise to your feelings, so where do you need to change your thoughts to take the suffering out of your life?

Pain Happens To Us All

Filed in Cancer, Grief, Love, Widow by on January 27, 2016

pain happens to us all, but suffering is a choice. Mercia Tapping

I met a young woman the other day who was in acute pain two years after her husband had left the marriage. She was a walking disaster. She had given up on herself. Pain was written all over her face and exuded from every pore. She is one of the few people whom I unreservedly referred to counseling. She was never going to get out of this ditch herself, even with the help of loving friends.

As someone who has lost a husband to brain cancer, there is no rigid timetable on grief. Indeed, there is part of me that will mourn my husband for the rest of my life. So pain, sometimes incredible pain is an inevitable part of life. But if pain drowns us to the point of endless suffering, I do think we have some choice about it.

I have always CHOSEN to say that my husband gave me the happiest days of my life, but I also CHOOSE to think that my heart is big enough to love again, knowing that is what my husband would have wanted for me.

Your thoughts give rise to your feelings, so where do you need to change your thoughts to take the suffering out of your life?

Dented But Not Broken

dented but not broken, still fighting strong. Mercia Tapping

So what if I am dented? Those dents were hard won in the battle to reclaim my life after its numerous challenges in recent years. But the important thing is not to give up and get broken.

I have come close to being broken, but good friends gave me a helping hand when I needed it to resume the battle. And that is what counts in the end, never giving up hope.

If you still keep on fighting you are a winner!

Pattern Interrupted

Filed in Courage, Inspirational, Life by on January 25, 2016

pattern interrupted, sometimes we should break free of the mold. Mercia Tapping

We all have a tendency to get in a rut. We have a pattern to our lives; we eat exactly the same food each day, we go to work and do exactly the same thing, and the same boring story continues. Sometimes, we are not happy in that rut, but we lack the strength to break out of it. So this week, surprise yourself and break the pattern. You just might enjoy it!!

If Your Life Is A Story

Filed in Inspirational, Life by on January 24, 2016

if your life is a story, how do you want it to end? Mercia Tapping

I think it is very difficult to contemplate the end of ones life, and I am not suggesting that you engage in maudlin contemplation. But the reality is that for each of us, life could just end tomorrow. We do not control that timetable.

So it is best to live in the present and have your actions be guided by having no regrets. We haven’t been given life to waste it, or be abusive to our fellow humans. Each one of us needs to put our heads on the pillow at night and be okay with not waking up in the morning.

Be The Change

Filed in God, Inspirational, Life, Love, Widow by on January 23, 2016

be the change you want to see happen in the world, begin with living the golden rule. Mercia Tapping

I let the Golden Rule guide my actions towards my fellow humans. How would I like to be treated? So despite my irritation sometimes at some things that are not going as planned, I try hard not to take it out on others.

My late husband used to say ” if you can’t think of anything nice to say, then just don’t say it”. This was a trifle challenging when I was going through menopause when I wanted to rip the heads off all and sundry for no good reason. Then I literally had to bite my lip to keep quiet. Luckily aging has brought more peace with it and wisdom to know that sharp words said to another have no merit.

Let Your Laughter Resonate

let your laughter resonate with its healing waves throughout your body. Mercia Tapping

I have found myself spontaneously laughing again in recent weeks, and I think for myself and all of you out there that have been battling events in your life, that you are rising above it all once more. You cannot force it but when laughter comes, recognize that you are turning a corner.
