even in the blue periods of your life, there are moments of beauty. Mercia Tapping

I know all too well that there are life events that can bring you to your knees, as you struggle with adversity. You wonder when it will ever end, as the emotional or physical pain is crushing your spirit. One strategy for coping with this is to search out each day some little chinks of light, something that can make you smile, even for a brief moment or two. It is a reminder that a sweeter side to life does indeed exist. Nothing like focusing ones mind on the positive.

When Going Slow

when going slow is all you can do, enjoy the change of pace. Mercia Tapping

There are times, such as an illness of a loved one, your own illness or another life event, which forces your normal pattern of life to seemingly go on hold, or at least go infernally slow. The natural tendency is to rail against it and be frustrated. I have found in these circumstances that the only thing to do is surrender to the change of pace, and find something to enjoy about it.

Even In Winter

even in winter dawn comes. Mercia Tapping

I know when you are going through a rough patch in your life, it is easy to feel like it will never end. Being a cancer survivor, I remember marking off the days in my calendar, if only to remind myself that this tortuous treatment would not last forever, and I would regain my health again. The journey seemed interminable, but I knew I would come out the other side one day. And so will you.

The Butterfly Celebrates

the butterfly celebrates its release from the cocoon and so will you. Mercia Tapping

A couple of years ago when my life seemed suspended as I struggled with breast cancer, a good friend of mine introduced me to the metaphor of the cocoon. She explained that although on the surface nothing was happening, there was an invisible transformation happening, and at the right time, a glorious butterfly would emerge and fly free. I loved that metaphor because it engendered hope, and gave me the gift of patience. I am now emerging from my cocoon and I wish the same for you.

Time To Take The Stress Out

Filed in Health, Hope, Inspirational, Life by on January 7, 2017

time to take the stress out of life and be at peace. Mercia Tapping

Recently, my primary care doctor halved my blood pressure medication. I took great pride in that result because it was a visible and tangible measure that I was now in a place where stress is receding; I am far more at peace with life. Each of us needs to find our own path to stress reduction, but it is worth the effort to figure it out for yourself.

Time To Come In From The Cold

Filed in Courage, Grief, Health, Hope, Inspirational, Love by on January 2, 2017

time to come in from the cold and warm your heart again. Mercia Tapping

For one reason or another, many of us have shielded ourselves against pain and loss by closing our hearts. It may feel safer that way but it does not bring happiness. I sincerely believe that we were made to be loved and love others. By taking the risk to opening up your heart this year, you can find that pathway to healing and nurturing love again.
